N2205256_family rescued adopted a lion cub lost its mother #animal #r_part2 The Honda Renaissance at Wekfest USA 2026: A Masterclass in Passion and Precision Ten years as a automotive journalist has shown me that some events transcend the average car show. Wekfest USA has consistently been one of them, and this year’s stop in Edison, New Jersey, solidified that reputation. Now in its 18th year since its 2008 inception by Kenneth Li, Wekfest continues its tradition of showcasing the pinnacle of Japanese performance tuning. What struck me most about this year’s New Jersey iteration was the undeniable dominance of the Honda brand, a shift that highlighted the incredible depth of its engineering and the unwavering dedication of the enthusiast community. As a longtime Honda devotee with nearly a decade of immersion in the tuner scene, I found myself in familiar territory. The sheer volume of Honda and Acura vehicles at the show was staggering. For every Toyota, Nissan, or German marque, there were multiple Hondas, each representing a unique facet of the aftermarket evolution. From the highly sought-after JDM collectibles to the meticulously built daily drivers, the Honda presence was powerful and pervasive. The landscape of modified cars at Wekfest is always an interesting barometer of trends. This year, the focus seemed to be on purpose-built machines that prioritize functionality and performance without sacrificing aesthetic appeal. The era of over-the-top body kits and gratuitous decals seems to be fading, replaced by a more refined approach that lets the engineering shine. Yet, this refinement doesn’t equate to homogeneity. The variety within the Honda community is what makes Wekfest so captivating. What follows is a deep dive into some of the most memorable Honda and Acura builds that caught my eye at Wekfest USA 2026, each representing the meticulous craft and passion that define this enduring event. The Apex Predators: Legendary Honda Sports Cars
Among the crowd, the halo cars often steal the spotlight. This year, the most exclusive and talked-about machine was the 1992 Acura NSX, a legend that continues to push the boundaries of what’s possible in a street-legal track weapon. The Lone NSX: King Among Hondas Owning a first-generation Acura NSX is a rare feat in itself, but Marby Enriquez’s 2014 acquisition transformed this already iconic mid-engine sports car into a relentless time-attack machine. Initially, Enriquez drove the NSX in its factory form, experiencing firsthand the precision of its handcrafted aluminum body and lightweight chassis. However, the vision for the car evolved, leading to a comprehensive transformation aimed at enhancing both its raw performance and its commanding presence on the track. The exterior of Enriquez’s NSX is striking, featuring a dynamic blue wrap that accentuates its aerodynamic lines. Under the hood, a classic Comptech Whipple supercharger now sits, injecting a significant boost of power into the naturally aspirated 3.0-liter V6 engine. Complementing the forced induction is a Walbro 255 fuel pump and a snorkel intake inspired by the ultra-rare, Japan-exclusive NSX-R GT. The visual statement is immediately apparent with a carbon-fiber hood and functional scoop, channeling cool air directly into the heart of the beast. Supporting this power is a KW Clubsport coil-over suspension system, offering the kind of precision handling needed for competitive driving. Rolling stock consists of iconic Volk Racing TE37 wheels wrapped in grippy Toyo Proxes R888R tires, matched with StopTech brakes and Hawk pads for stopping power that matches the engine’s acceleration. A massive Voltex Type 4/5 GT wing ensures high-speed stability, providing the downforce necessary for challenging corners. While the car has continued to evolve since its 2020 magazine feature—now sporting white wheels and a subtler front spoiler—Enriquez’s NSX remains a breathtaking example of automotive craftsmanship. It serves as a showcase for the miraculous precision and engineering that have gone into creating these legendary vehicles. The modifications are so seamlessly integrated that the car looks like a factory special, a testament to the years of dedication invested in its development. While the 1992 NSX commands attention with its refined, purposeful build, the true crown jewel of Wekfest 2026 Honda exhibits was undoubtedly the Mugen RR. Positioned near the far end of the event floor, this ultra-rare specimen represented the pinnacle of Mugen’s tuning philosophy. Regarded as the ultimate iteration of the Civic Type R, all 300 units of the Mugen RR sold out within approximately 10 minutes of their release. The vast majority remained in Japan, with only a single car officially exported to Malaysia. This particular example has since been imported to the U.S. and is a testament to its owner’s dedication to owning one of the most sought-after Hondas ever produced. Performance-wise, the Mugen RR features Mugen camshafts, ECU tuning, and an upgraded exhaust, bringing the total output to a potent 237 horsepower. But the changes extend far beyond the engine bay. Carbon-fiber bumpers and an aluminum hood reduce weight and sharpen performance across the board. The signature 18-inch Mugen wheels complete the aggressive stance, making it clear that this is no ordinary Civic. The Mugen RR is a true masterpiece, embodying the essence of Honda’s engineering passion. Positioned next to the FD2, it becomes clear: While the FD2 captivates with aesthetics, the Mugen RR represents the true soul of performance tuning. ADVERTISEMENT – CONTINUE READING BELOW
Unexpected Gems: Show-Stopping Kei Cars and Modern Icons The diversity of the Honda brand is never more apparent than when you see the extreme range of vehicles that can be modified into showstoppers. Wekfest 2026 in Edison showcased this perfectly, with a unique selection of cars that spanned from tiny Japanese microcars to modern SUVs. The N-BOX, An Unexpected Star One of the most surprising standout vehicles at the show was the Honda N-BOX. Representing the category of kei cars—small, efficient vehicles designed to meet strict, Japanese-mandated size and engine regulations—the N-BOX stands out as a uniquely Japanese creation showcased on American soil. Even the largest kei cars remain smaller than a Mazda Miata, with displacement capped at approximately 660cc, making the modifications found on this N-BOX even more remarkable. This particular N-BOX embraces its minivan-inspired form, offering a distinctive blend of practicality and character. Finished in the sportier Custom trim, it features an assertive front fascia and a boxy silhouette reminiscent of Honda’s iconic Element. A standout detail is its license plate reading “K24 NA,” hinting at a powertrain swap that defies the vehicle’s origins. Whether or not the owner actually managed to stuff a version of Honda’s 2.4-liter K24 inline-four engine—nearly four times larger than the stock N-BOX powertrain—under its hood remains a subject of speculation, but the car certainly grabbed attention. Alongside the kei car, other unexpected builds included a lowered Element with a blue interior and an oversized rear speaker, as well as a pair of modified Acura MDXs, rare sights that underscored the broad range of modified models on display at the show. The Acura MDX, a large SUV, received a serious overhaul with body kit modifications, air suspension, and custom wheels, proving that no Honda or Acura vehicle is safe from the modding bug. These SUVs demonstrate that performance tuning isn’t limited to sports cars; it’s a philosophy that can be applied to any platform, transforming the ordinary into something extraordinary. Auto Salon Contender The Honda S2000 is a perennial favorite in the tuning world, and Wekfest 2026 featured several exceptional examples. However, one particular S2000 stood out for its precision and purpose, a build executed with remarkable attention to detail. Under the hood, the F22 engine has been enhanced with a curated selection of components from Mugen, ASM, and HKS, topped by a distinctive Jun valve cover. The meticulous approach continues beyond the engine bay. The car rides on Advan wheels and features Renegade brakes, a Voltex rear wing, and an ASM steering wheel—each element chosen to balance performance and aesthetics. Among the many S2000s on display, this example was the most complete and cohesive build. It is a machine that would feel equally at home on a Tokyo Auto Salon display stand as it would be carving up a circuit. The level of detail and execution suggests a build that has been refined over years, a testament to the owner’s commitment to perfection. Other visual highlights included scale model cars displayed in front of their full-size counterparts and a liveried-up Motocompacto electric scooter parked beside a sixth-generation Civic. That sixth-gen Civic featured an original 1960s Honda emblem on its rear—the same wide-top “H” design that inspired the brand’s new 0 Series EV logo. These touches added layers of depth and personality to the event, showcasing the evolution of the Honda brand from its inception to its future vision. Civic Hatchback, Prelude Heart
Among all the wild builds and glowing LEDs, one humble silver Civic stood out, not for
