Two years following my first immersion into Wekfest USA, I recently had the privilege of once again traversing the landscape of this enduring exhibition, a globally recognized convergence of high-performance Japanese automotive icons. Since its inception by Kenneth Li in 2008, Wekfest has cemented its status as a linchpin of the global tuner culture, renowned for its unwavering commitment to JDM and modified import aesthetics, consistently showcasing some of the nation’s most exceptional builds.
This year’s engagement in Edison, New Jersey, marked a palpable evolution in the show’s curation. The dominion of Honda was striking; for every Toyota, Nissan, or Porsche present, there seemed to be a cohort of Hondas, each illustrating the profound depth and sheer diversity of the brand’s tuning ecosystem.
As a dedicated advocate of the Honda marque since my youth, I found myself in a familiar and exhilarating environment. The subsequent analysis delineates some of the most captivating examples that captured the attention of both the attending public and myself at Wekfest USA 2025, each representing the extraordinary level of dedication and precision that define this iconic automotive event.
The Monarch of the Honda Display: A Singular NSX
Among the remarkable roster of vehicles on display, the 1992 Acura NSX owned by Marby Enriquez stood out as a singular triumph, exemplifying the transformative journey of Honda’s legendary mid-engine sports car into a highly specialized time attack weapon. The H-series, often eclipsed by the legendary B-series, served as Honda’s torquey, reliable workhorse that powered venerable models such as the Prelude Type S and the Accord Euro R. Witnessing this robust engine transversely mounted within an unassuming EG generation Civic hatchback proved to be a refreshing and uncommon sight. It is noteworthy that the owner of this Civic has possessed this EG chassis for more than two decades, and the H22 motor housed within it has remained in the vehicle for almost the exact duration of ownership. This build was never intended to attract attention through flashiness; instead, it represented pure, unadulterated functionality.

The Pinnacle of Performance: A Rare Mugen RR Exhibition
And finally, the absolute crown jewel of the Honda segment at the exhibition. Positioned near the far periphery of the Wekfest exhibition floor was a pristine FD2 Civic Type R finished in the iconic Championship White, but sharing the stage was something even rarer: the Mugen RR.

This extraordinary example was subsequently imported into the United States and features Mugen performance camshafts, bespoke ECU mapping, and an upgraded exhaust system, resulting in a robust output of 237 horsepower at the flywheel. Weight savings and enhanced agility are achieved through the implementation of carbon-fiber front and rear bumpers, an aluminum hood, and the signature 18-inch Mugen wheels.
